Overwatch starts its Season 3 of the Competitive mode! To prepare you well for the new season in Overwatch , we have created an overview of the changes for you.
Just a few days after Season 2 ended, the competitive play for Season 3 has started. There will be some changes with the new season as well.
Overwatch Season 3: Skill Rating Adjusted
The skill rating system has once again been adjusted by Blizzard, after a flood of players was noticed in the Gold and Platinum ranks. In Season 2, many players were ranked too high and dropped significantly in rank during their first competitive matches. This led to frustration, as the skill levels of the games were vastly different.
For Season 3, the skill rating system has been adjusted in such a way that many players will initially be ranked lower than they would expect from their placement matches. The rank is expected to normalize over the course of the season, as players with strong skills are anticipated to climb in rank quickly.
Off-Season Play
Blizzard expects that there will now be an “Off-Season” between each season. This will last for one week and gives you the opportunity to play and practice in the ranked mode without jeopardizing your rank. It is a playground to try out new tactics and champs with the same rules as in ranked play.
