The latest patch of Overwatch has taken a heavy toll on the knight Reinhardt. He is faltering, as his hammer is relentlessly bugged.
The anniversary of Overwatch is over, but not all the aftermaths have subsided yet. Patch 1.11 of Overwatch not only brought the Anniversary event but also implemented some bizarre bugs into the game. The most annoying one affects the German knight Reinhardt. According to numerous community members, the tank has become “unplayable”.
No balance changes were made to Reinhardt. Instead, a bug has crept in for players who have a latency of 40 or higher. All of Reinhardt’s abilities have a significant delay. This applies not only to the fire strike and his ultimate but also to his melee attack. Although the animation is already playing, damage or a hit is calculated only much later – and only if the action has not been interrupted by then.
If you, for instance, sheathe the hammer to hold the shield back up, then a strike is not calculated correctly, even if it has been fully executed (according to the animation).
In the official forum, Jeff Kaplan has now spoken out and confirmed this error. According to him, Reinhardt’s hammer with all its animations will be fully usable again starting with patch 1.12. The error was “quite complicated” and thus it was not so easy to pinpoint the problem.
However, there is still no concrete release date for patch 1.12.
Cortyn says: Fortunately, I am not affected by this bug, but I regularly see other Reinhardts “lagging around me” and their movements are so strange that animations and actual hits simply do not match. Hopefully patch 1.12 will be released soon, as for many players it is almost unbearable to have a Reinhardt on the team or even to play one themselves.
Considering how pivotal a Reinhardt is for a group’s success, the frustration is easy to understand.
