The tank Reinhardt in Overwatch has been causing problems for many players. But now there is hope for fixes.
The German knight Reinhardt has long been one of the most popular heroes in Overwatch. This was not only due to his simply lovable personality, but also to his solid kit of abilities, which made him essential for many groups.
But those times are already over. Reinhardt has been weakened, mainly due to annoying bugs. His Fire Strike has a smaller hitbox, his Hammer and Ultimate sometimes deal no damage, and his Charge rarely hits the intended targets, instead just pushing them aside. For several months, this has caused problems and frustration, so hardly anyone wanted to play Reinhardt anymore.
Many Reinhardt bugs have already been fixed (on the PTR)
But now the Game Director Jeff Kaplan has spoken up in the official forum. They have reviewed the bugs and issues and plan to make the following changes to Reinhardt:
- The hitbox of Fire Strike has been enlarged.
- Swing issues of the hammer related to latency have been fixed.
- Reinhardt’s hammer swing speed has been increased by 10%.
- Some bugs with animation cancellation have been fixed (which also relates to latency).
- The animations of Fire Strike and Charge now synchronize independently of latency.
- Charge now reliably pins opponents instead of pushing them aside.
- Charge now reliably pins opponents when charging up a staircase or ramp.
One problem still remains with Earth Shatter. Occasionally, hit enemies are not stunned. However, they want to fix this as well and hope to offer a solution by the release of patch 1.13.
