The new map of Overwatch, Paris, is finally here. We reveal what Paris has to offer and what has changed with the patch.
For a while, the new Overwatch map of Paris has been playable on the PTR. Last night (02.19.2018), the patch was finally released for the live version of the game. Since then, Paris has been available to play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One for everyone.
Paris is an attack map: Paris is of the “attack” map type. This means that players must capture two control points while the defenders aim to prevent exactly that.
You will be guided through the city center of Paris, but you can also take a look inside some houses. Generally, the Paris of the future seems to be a very open-minded and artistic city, as there are small theaters, cafés, and artworks to admire everywhere.
Arcade mode for map guarantee: If you want to check out Paris in a match and don’t want to rely on chance, you should visit the arcade mode. For a while, Paris will be a fixed selection there, allowing you to try the map to your heart’s content.
Patch changes to hit points: Besides the new map, Overwatch has made some other changes. The priority list for taking damage has been changed, affecting how different pools of hit points are depleted. When your hero takes damage, it will be calculated in this order:
Temporary shields –> Temporary armor –> Shields –> Armor –> Hit points

This changed the positions of shields and temporary armor. This ensures that each temporary enhancement is depleted first before moving on to other shields.
How do you like the new map Paris? Do you find the map pretty? What do you think of the futuristic vision of France?
Overwatch probably won’t get “pings” for now – why that is, Jeff Kaplan explains.
