After Reaper has become weaker after a supposed buff on the PTR of Overwatch, the developers have now made him a bit stronger again.
What was wrong with Reaper? In a patch on the PTR of Overwatch, some adjustments were made to Reaper. These were supposed to make the hero stronger:
- The spread of his shotguns’ pellets was reduced
- and his self-healing was increased.
However, the result was that Reaper became weaker as a result. His shots did not hit the targets as reliably as before. This quickly drew the attention of some users on Reddit.
Reaper’s nerf was a bug – PTR patch notes
Blizzard confirms unintended change: Some players complained about the effect of this change. Others claimed that this was exactly what Reaper should have received and that he was now stronger for their playstyle.
However, Blizzard quickly responded. According to the developers, it is indeed an unintended nerf. Therefore, a new patch was deployed on the PTR to fix it.
What has changed? The spread pattern of Reaper’s shotguns is still modified compared to the live version. The developers have fixed the issue with fewer pellets effectively hitting the target:
- Reaper
- Shotguns
- Spread pattern has been adjusted.
- Shotguns
Developer’s comment: This is the second part of the adjustments to Reaper’s shotguns (the previous one reduced the randomness of the spread by 50%). This change brings some of Reaper’s pellets from the outer ring into the inner ring and reduces the empty space between the rings when shooting from a greater distance.
In addition to the adjustments to Reaper, there are several changes aimed at improving the stability of the game.
When will the patch be released? When exactly the PTR patch will also be deployed on the live servers is not yet known. It is quite possible that the new patch will go live right after the BlizzCon.
