In Overwatch, Lúcio is receiving changes on the PTR that restrict his aura range. Details can be found in the Overwatch PTR Patch Notes for 1.10.
Currently, a new patch is on the test servers of Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch. On the public PTR servers, you can try out the changes and get a glimpse of the new Lúcio. Additionally, the developers are changing competitive matches to reduce the number of “draw” outcomes. A new route for attackers is being tested on Eichenwalde.
Hero Update – Lúcio
The developers are changing Lúcio because he has often been regarded as a “must-have” due to his strong healing and speed boost. While Lúcio is still meant to have a significant impact on the game, it should be more difficult to support the entire team. Balance changes for Lúcio were already foreseeable.
For teams that fight closely together, it will remain easy to support many heroes at once. For heroes who are further apart (Widowmaker, Pharah, and so on), support should be more challenging. With the reduction of his auras, Lúcio will need to be significantly more active in the future to effectively support his allies.

Competitive Matches, Maps, and Champions Lore
In addition to the changes to Lúcio, the PTR patch notes include changes to the overall gameplay.
General
- In the hero gallery, you can now find details about each hero’s backstory and associated skins.
Competitive Matches
- A progression system has been added to assault and assault/escort maps that makes it easier to avoid a draw.
- The developers are unhappy with how often competitive matches end in a draw. The new progression system allows the game to determine how far a team has taken a control point. It works similarly to the measured distance when delivering payload.
- The team that has taken the largest share of a control point wins.
- For testing purposes, the map rotation in ranked matches is limited to Eichenwalde and Hanamura.
Maps
- Attackers on Eichenwalde receive a new route. This route connects the starting area of the attacking team with the objective point.
Custom Games and Game Browser
- Settings for custom games can now be saved in the game details.
- Right-click on the card while creating a game or right-click on a game name in the game browser to do this.
