The latest version of the PTR for Overwatch brings major nerfs for Ana and Orisa. However, Sombra, Junkrat, and Winston receive fine buffs.
The official test server of Overwatch (PTR) has received a new update. The developers are testing many new balance changes for the various heroes and have some nerfs and buffs up their sleeve. The healer Ana and the yet-to-be-released Orisa are hit particularly hard. However, Junkrat, Sombra, Winston, and Zenyatta can look forward to some improvements.
Here are the new changes in Patch 1.9 for Overwatch:
Ana
Biotic Rifle
Damage has been reduced from 80 to 60.
Biotic Grenade
Damage has been reduced from 60 to 30.
Healing has been reduced from 100 to 50.
Junkrat
Junkrat no longer takes damage from his own explosions.
Orisa
Fusion Cannon
Magazine size has been reduced from 200 to 150.
Supercharger
Now requires 15% more charge to activate.
Sombra
Cloak
Sound effects and voiceovers when entering and exiting stealth are only audible within a range of 15 meters.
Translocator
Cooldown has been reduced from 6 to 4 seconds.
Winston
Barrier Projector
Cooldown now starts immediately after placing the barrier, not just when it is destroyed.
Zenyatta
Orb of Destruction
The cooldown after alternate fire has been reduced from 1.0 seconds to 0.6 seconds.
Orb of Discord
Can now target enemies behind a barrier.
Cortyn says: Orisa has apparently proven to be too strong on the PTR, especially her large magazine allowed for plenty of sustained fire, which in turn enabled her ultimate ability to be used more quickly. The increased costs here represent a “double nerf” of the ultimate, which was probably necessary.
The changes to Ana seem pretty harsh and almost exaggerated, as much of her damage and healing potential is being taken away. The fact that the Biotic Grenade is being nerfed again shows that Blizzard is dissatisfied with the power of her spontaneous group healing. For such situations, it seems better to bring along a Lúcio. Winston, on the other hand, may experience a boost from the changes, and players of Junkrat will finally not be able to kill themselves anymore – unless they blow themselves off cliffs.
