The latest adjustments on the test server of Overwatch are once again tweaking the dials. Hanzo and Soldier: 76 are being adjusted again.
Smaller arrows for Hanzo and more spread for Soldier: 76
Currently, there is a new update being tested on the Overwatch PTR, which includes among other things the new map Eichenwalde and the updates for Season 2 of the ranked system. There were also balancing adjustments for some characters, some of which are now being reverted.
Hanzo received particularly strong enhancements, as his arrow speed was increased by 30% while the projectile hitbox was enlarged again. At least the size of the projectile is now shrinking by a considerable 33%, so only part of the original buff remains active. Overall, it is still a strong improvement compared to the live version.
Even the aging Soldier: 76 has to undergo some changes. The spread of his weapon now increases after just a few shots, causing his accuracy to drop slightly. To compensate, this spread decreases much faster when Soldier is not firing. The desired effect is that “burst fire” becomes even more effective, making Soldier: 76 a bigger threat at long range.
Additionally, the “Quick Melee” attack is now prioritized differently. Activating a quick melee attack should no longer interrupt most abilities. There are some exceptions, such as special movement abilities. Examples include Tracer’s “Blink” or Pharah’s Rocket Boost.
All changes are now live on the PTR and can be tested. Whether they will be implemented in the live version of the game remains to be seen.
