The Finnish Overwatch professional Roni “LhCloudy” Tiihonen expressed his frustration during his stream. He worked hard for his team and was let go. He later apologized for his words.
What did the pro say? In his Twitch stream from October 12, 2020, LhCloudy spoke about his dismissal from his team. He had worked hard, was poorly compensated, and ended up “in the garbage”.
Last year was not particularly good for the LA Gladiators. In the Overwatch League 2020, they lost 0:3 to the Philadelphia Fusion and also 0:3 to the Florida Mayhem. Thus, the Los Angeles Gladiators only ranked 9th in the standings. Now the offseason is approaching and teams are changing their rosters.
The LA Gladiators parted ways with LhCloudy, who had only been a tank for the team since December 4, 2019.
This is how the pro reacts to his dismissal on stream
This is what LhCloudy says: On Twitch, he explains to his viewers: “I play 10 hours a day, get poorly paid, and then I’m thrown in the garbage. That’s life.”
Viewers asked LhCloudy what his biggest disappointment was in the past year. He initially directed his complaints at the team coaches.
“I think our coaches made a lot of silly decisions in our playoffs. And then they came to me afterward and said ‘oh crap, you were right.'” But for him, it wouldn’t mean anything if someone says something like that to him after the playoffs and apologizes for not taking his advice.
Afterward, he explains that everyone in the team worked hard for the matches, including the coaches. “I think we all made bad decisions in the playoffs. It’s not the coaches’ fault. It’s everyone’s fault.”
Money is also an important topic among Overwatch players. The former Overwatch professional Sinatraa switched to Valorant. There he earns more money despite a lower salary.
LhCloudy apologizes: After the Twitch stream, he posted a message on Twitter in which he apologized for his words. “I messed up and said dumb things on stream. I was very emotional and it was very dumb of me to blame others. I live for Overwatch and dedicate all my hours to it. The news about my dismissal hit me really hard. I had hoped to stay [with the team].”
He thought he could keep his feelings under control during the stream. However, he believes he shouldn’t have streamed. He truly regrets his words against his former team.
In another context, a coach played a very special role. This Overwatch team changed their coach in dire need and surprised everyone.
