Mei’s Ice Wall in Overwatch has many more applications than you think. Without it, these cool kills wouldn’t have been possible.
Every week, absurd, exciting, or simply funny moments happen in Overwatch that are often captured in a “Play of the Game.” We searched social media and picked out three special highlights for you. Enjoy our 3 “Play of the Game” moments of the week in Overwatch!
“Widowmaker shouldn’t be played in ranked!” and “Snipers have no place on a control point map!” are phrases heard repeatedly in Overwatch. None other than Lord Revan proves on the Lijiang Tower map that one should at least be a bit calmer about the theory when a real pro is at work. Even before the control point is unlocked, Widowmaker has already taken out 4 out of 6 players single-handedly. And what is the most satisfying thing about it? Right – being insulted as an Aimbot user.
Using your ultimate at the right moment is an immensely satisfying experience. But when you can also deactivate an enemy ultimate in the process, it becomes even better. This happened to the Roadhog player Massev, who interrupted not just one or two enemy ultimates, but a whopping 4 of them – all within a span of 10 seconds in the “Play of the Game.” Soldier: 76, Roadhog, Genji, and even McCree all fall short and get rolled over by our big guy.
Our last clip is not a true “Play of the Game,” but it clearly shows what distinguishes a good player from a great one. Jrbourne demonstrates with Mei how creatively and effectively the ice wall can be used – completely different from what one usually knows. After the opposing Winston tries to mitigate the Blizzard with his bubble, Mei quickly lifts him and his colleague McCree with a wall out of the safe zone – perfectly set up for a finish.
