The developers of Overwatch are not satisfied with Roadhog. Soon, the big guy should be able to perform better as a tank.
The current state of the Overwatch hero Roadhog divides the player base into two camps. One group celebrates the “new” Roadhog, primarily from the perspective of a victim: Finally, Roadhog can no longer perform “one-shot combos” and is not as frustrating as an opponent.
The other group feels that Roadhog is now far too weak, as he can neither easily take down individual targets nor truly fulfill his role as a tank.
But how does Blizzard see the whole Roadhog issue? Jeff Kaplan, the Game Director of Overwatch, had previously revealed, that they are not satisfied with Roadhog and that he is currently in “no optimal position.”
Roadhog should be able to withstand more
This has now also been confirmed by one of the lead developers, Geoff Goodman. In the official forum of the game, he commented on Roadhog:
“We are trying out some things internally with Roadhog. The focus of the changes we are testing is on his defense and not on an increase in his offensive capabilities. Although the hook combo is now weaker, he can still deal a lot of damage. If his survivability were a bit better, he would be in a good position.”
So we will still have to wait for specific changes. Whether they will make it into the “Doomfist” patch, which is supposed to hit the live servers in the coming weeks, is questionable.
What change would you give Roadhog to make him stand out better again? Are you still doing well with him currently?
