The latest patch of Overwatch dramatically adjusts the balance. While D.Va is buffed, other heroes receive notable nerfs.
As hinted yesterday, a new test server for Overwatch has now opened its doors, coming with patch notes that pack a punch.
- Generally, damage to player constructs (Torbjörn’s turret, Symmetra’s teleporter, etc.) no longer generates ultimate charge. Additionally, all heroes now require 25% more charge for their ultimate abilities.
- D.Va‘s mech now has 100 additional health points (so 400 armor + 200 health points) and her movement speed while firing is now 25% faster than before.
- The weapon damage of Soldier: 76 has been increased from 17 to 20, but so has the maximum spread, from 2.2 to 2.4.
- Ana’s nano boost no longer increases movement speed.
- The cost of Mei‘s Blizzard has been increased by 15%.
- Lúcio‘s healing is now 10% weaker than before while empowered by “Amp it Up”.
- Both barriers of Zarya now generate 20% less energy when damaged.
- Torbjörn now automatically generates scrap over time. Enemies leave behind 40% less scrap than before. The hammer now hits 25% faster, but its damage per hit has been reduced by 27%.
However, it should be noted regarding the patch notes that Blizzard is currently trying out some more radical changes to see how certain adjustments affect the game feel. All changes should consequently be approached with caution.
Cortyn says: I particularly like the changes to Torbjörn, as they allow for playing the Swedish character on other maps and even setting up a turret “during battle”. The additional health points for D.Va and her faster movement while attacking are also nice. Thus, she will be much more fitting for her role as a “flanker”. However, it remains to be seen which of these changes will actually make it to the live version of the game.
