The latest patch notes for Overwatch are here. This time, Genji is getting some adjustments and Mercy is receiving some buffs.
Shorter Ultimate for Genji, More Healing for Mercy
Coinciding with GamesCom, the latest test server for Overwatch has gone live and brought some changes to existing heroes. We have summarized for you what will change soon in Blizzard’s hero shooter – if these adjustments make it into the live version of the game.
Above all, Genji’s mobility is being addressed, as he was practically unstoppable in skilled hands. The developers want to take away some of his mobility. The following adjustments are currently on the PTR:
- Wall climbing no longer resets the double jump.
- Dash (Shift ability) no longer damages Junkrat’s and Widowmaker’s traps. Additionally, Junkrat’s bear trap now stops Genji.
- His ultimate (Dragonblade) now lasts only 6 seconds instead of 8.
Even for Zenyatta, the balance of power is shifting a bit. His “Orb of Discord” now increases damage taken by only 30% (previously 50%). As a trade-off, his automatic attacks now deal 48 instead of 40 damage.
There is good news for Mercy. Her healing is increased by 20%, allowing her to restore 60 health points per second. Additionally, teammates can move again after resurrection after just 2.25 seconds (previously after 3 seconds), allowing them to help Mercy out of trouble faster.
Mei is also getting a buff to her ultimate ability. The projectile can now penetrate barriers (Winston and Reinhardt) and the radius of the ability has been increased from 8 to 10 meters.
McCree’s ultimate will now be completely consumed upon activation, even if he fails to target anything.
The speed boost from Lúcio during “Amp it up!” is reduced from 100% to 70%.
Apart from the balance changes, the patch will also introduce the new ranking system (0-5000) and the changes to the ranked mode, so the despised “coin flip” will be a thing of the past.
So far, these patch notes are only valid for the test server. Whether they will be implemented in this form in the live version of the game remains to be seen.
