A new patch is available on the PTR for Overwatch. While D.Va is facing changes, Reaper and Mei are receiving significant improvements.
Although Brigitte has only just arrived in the live version of Overwatch, the developers are already pushing the next patch to the PTR. This patch includes the long-announced adjustments for Reaper and Mei. However, D.Va and Zenyatta are also getting some fine-tuning, and Moira can finally see more on her screen. We reveal what is changing.
The threat from Mei is being realized. She will now be able to freeze multiple enemies simultaneously with her primary fire. The frost beam can pass through multiple enemies, thereby slowing down and freezing several opponents at once. However, the frost – as before – does not penetrate shields (such as those of Reinhardt or Winston).
Reaper can act more accurately and quickly
There are three minor changes waiting for Reaper. None of them increase his damage, but they should make him stronger nonetheless.
- Death Blossom (Ultimate) now automatically reloads the shotguns.
- Phantom now increases movement speed by 50% (previously 25%).
- Phantom can now be canceled early by pressing Shift or the primary fire button again.
This allows Reaper to better pursue enemies, and opponents can no longer precisely time when he comes out of his Phantom form.
D.Va, on the other hand, has to endure a small nerf. The damage of her micro-missiles will be reduced. The explosion damage per missile drops from 6 to 4. The 3 damage points from the impact remain unchanged, resulting in a damage loss of nearly 22%. This should somewhat limit D.Va’s high burst damage.
Zenyatta also has to accept a reduction in his damage potential. The fire rate of his secondary fire (the charged orbs) decreases by 15%. This gives enemies a bit more time to dodge the deadly orbs. Some professionals had recently dealt extreme amounts of damage with Zenyatta.
For Moira, there are only a few quality of life improvements. Biotic Grasp, Coalescence, and Fade are now more transparent when you are near the effects in the vicinity of the camera. This applies to both allies and enemies and should provide a bit more clarity on the battlefield.
Aside from that, there are also a number of smaller bug fixes.
Please note that this is just a PTR, and the changes may still evolve until the patch is released.
What do you think about the buffs for Reaper and Mei? Necessary and sensible? Or will they become too strong?
