The background download for Overwatch has begun and the PTR is closing. Are we getting a new hero now?
If you started your Battle.net launcher today, you will have inevitably noticed that Overwatch has begun downloading a future update. The PTR, the test server for Overwatch, has now been closed.
At the same time, maintenance work has been announced for Tuesday, February 28, 2017, between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM – the perfect time to roll out the new patch.
The upcoming update includes the server browser, which will allow players to create their own matches under custom-defined rules and then list them to find like-minded individuals. We have already introduced some particularly absurd rules here.
New hero tomorrow – Anchora or Aetria?
Along with patch 1.8, most players expect that the next hero will be implemented in Overwatch. Although Blizzard has not made any official announcement about this, the teasers and hints strongly suggest that. However, the next hero will not be Doomfist – this has already been confirmed by Jeff Kaplan – which shifts the focus to the young inventor Efi Oladele and one of her robots. According to a leak that had predicted much before, the robot lady is named “Anchora” and is a quadruped tank.
Other hints indicate a more “human” appearing robot resembling a mecha suit from anime series. The posters in Numbani speak of a “Fashion Week” that is held in “Numbani, New York and Paris”. And – oh what a coincidence – on February 28 in real-time, the Fashion Week in Paris begins. Coinciding with the date of the patch. Perhaps “Aetria” is also a new character that will soon see the digital light of day.
Pharah’s father is not, by the way, the one we thought he was – you know.
