The new Overwatch patch is live for Xbox, PC, and PS4 and brings many changes to heroes and maps along with the “Archives” event “Retribution”. You can read the official patch notes from April 10th here with us. This is where you can find the Overwatch changelog of what has changed.
With today’s patch from April 10, 2018, Blizzard brings the “Retribution” event and its skins to all systems. The developers also adjusted the heroes: Reaper receives a small buff, D.Va a nerf, and other heroes have further adjustments.
The official patch notes are currently only available in English and have been translated by us.

Patch Highlights
New seasonal event: Overwatch Archives 2018
Experience key moments from the history in the Overwatch Archives. Join a team of four heroes and take part in a cooperative, story-driven mission that provides new insights into the era before the fall of Overwatch.
Take command of the Blackwatch agents this year and face Talon in an exciting, new arcade mode: “Retribution.” Players also get a second chance to defeat the Omnic Uprising, as the “Uprising” event from last year makes its return. You will receive Archive loot boxes when playing, which allow you to obtain new cosmetics from Overwatch’s past, including Blackwatch Moira, Scion Hanzo, Soldier: 24 Reaper, Talon Doomfist, Specimen 28 Winston, and more.

- Players can now avoid other players using the corresponding function in the career dropdown menu “avoid as teammate”
PS4/Xbox One
- An option to change the voice chat mode has been added under Options > Sound
“Report” menu
- The “Bad Teamwork” option has been removed
- The “Griefing” option has been renamed to “Gameplay Sabotage”
Heroes
- Sombra’s “Hacked Enemies” card now also shows her offensive assists
- Brigitte’s golden weapon variant now also gives her a golden shield
- The voiceline for Mercy’s Valkyrie has been changed
Hero Updates
Brigitte
- Barrier Shield
- The option “Lock Barrier” has been added under Options > Controls > Brigitte
D.Va
- Micro Missiles
- Explosive damage reduced from 6 to 4
- Boosters
- Impact damage reduced from 25 to 10
Developer comment: D.Va’s burst potential was a bit too high, which is why we are reducing the damage of her micro missiles and the impact of her boosters. Before these changes, each rocket dealt 3 damage on impact and 6 explosive damage. We are now reducing this explosive damage from 6 to 4, but we are not changing the impact damage, resulting in a 21% reduction.
McCree
- A new voiceline has been added for “Lifeguard McCree.”
Mei
- Endothermic Blaster
- Now pierces enemies
Developer comment: These changes help Mei fight mobs of enemies and make it easier for her to freeze specific targets. These changes also allow her ultimate to freeze enemies more consistently, especially when they are close together. Note: Even though the fire now pierces enemies, it is still blocked by barriers.
Reaper
- Death Blossom
- Reloads the Inferno Shotguns after use
- Phantom
- Movement speed increased from 25% to 50%
- Pressing shift or fire will cancel the ability
Developer comment: These changes help Reaper use his phantom form more reliably and escape, but they also open up new options for chasing down enemies.
Moira
- Biotic Grasp
- Higher transparency the closer you are to your target
- Coalescence
- Now becomes more transparent the closer the visible effect is to a player’s camera
- Fade
- Higher transparency the closer you are to your target
Developer comment: Due to visibility issues, we have reduced most of Moira’s visual effects the closer they are to the camera. We have also made adjustments to Coalescence to allow allies and enemies to see through when looking in.
Zenyatta
- Sphere of Destruction
- Secondary fire rate reduced by 15%
Developer comment: Zenyatta should be able to deal a lot of damage, especially for a support, but the damage of his alternate fire was a bit too high. These changes are meant to leave his overall damage untouched, but slightly reduce his DPS and make it harder for him to land multiple hits at long range.
Game Browser and Custom Games
General
- The map “Lockout Eliminations” in Arcade mode now only refers to Eliminations
- Ayutthaya has been added to the map rotation for 3v3 elimination games.
Map Updates
Blizzard World
- The first checkpoint for the payload has been pushed back by 10 meters
Developer comment: We moved the checkpoint for two reasons. The original position favored the defenders too much. Additionally, defenders returning from the spawn point could be held in this area when the payload reached the point, which usually meant their death.
Hollywood
- The spelling of “Thespian 4.0” on the poster is now correctly “Thespion 4.0”
User Interface
General
- Heroes can now be selected by double-clicking on the portrait in hero selection.
- Leaderboard information has been added to the info screens in competitive mode. These can be displayed by right-clicking on the menu in the competitive map.
- The hero selection tips have been simplified
Bug Fixes
- A number of bugs related to heroes, maps, and more have been fixed
