The new Overwatch heroine Orisa made her debut in a professional tournament. However, it did not go well for the Omnic lady.
The latest hero of Overwatch, Orisa, arrived in the live version of the game last week. However, she cannot yet be used in ranked mode, as Blizzard wants players to gather a bit of experience with her in quick play first.
However, different rules often apply in professional tournaments. Here, organizers can set their own guidelines and determine which heroes are available. During the “North-American Carbon Series” tournament, a bold decision was made.
Players had been repeatedly selecting Orisa in the spawn room all day, only to switch to a “real” hero at the last moment.
No wonder the commentators were thrilled when Orisa was selected by “Juv3nile” from Team Renegade and actually taken into battle.
The Twitch chat also reacted with excitement when someone finally played the new hero.
The heroic moment, however, lasted only a brief moment. As soon as Juv3nile reached the objective, he was mowed down by the opposing Reinhardt. It was embarrassing, as Orisa is actually a direct counter to Reinhardt, since she can block his charge with an ability.
The respective play starts at around 3:31:30.
Basically, Orisa behaves as Sombra did back then. For the first few weeks, there will likely be only tentative attempts to try out the new hero. It will take weeks or even months for players to truly figure out when and how to best use Orisa.
Currently, Blizzard is testing a new anti-abuse system for reporting toxic players in Overwatch.
