Overwatch ‘s biggest problem is an omnic named Bastion. But that will take care of itself when the new hero Orisa is released.
Currently, Overwatch has become a “bit” monotonous, as most matches revolve around either killing the opposing Bastion or protecting your own Bastion to do the rest of the work. Although Bastion is obviously too strong – and will soon be nerfed again – there is hope on the horizon. The new hero Orisa seems to be the perfect counter to ruin Bastions and the protecting team’s day.
Orisa is literally the hero we have all been waiting for. Although all her mechanics are not new and exist in similar (or even the same) form with other heroes, she is a good mix of various useful abilities.
- Her Barrier is weaker than Reinhardt’s, but a bit more flexible as it can be used from a distance. This way, a Bastion can be “intimidated” from multiple directions.
- The range of her weapons is greater than that of any other tanks. Additionally, her damage is considerable and quickly takes out “weak” characters. Unlike Zarya, Winston, and Reinhardt, she can also deal headshots. Although she is a tank, she can relatively quickly take out barriers that often protect a Bastion.
- The “Mini-Graviton Surge“, which temporarily binds enemies to one point, is incredibly valuable. It can pull enemies around corners, separate them from the group, or bunch all enemies together for an area attack. Particularly important: Even a Bastion in the configuration: Sentry can be pulled in.
- Her ultimate ability, a generator that increases the damage of all nearby allies, will be immensely important in quickly turning group fights and is gold in both offensive and defensive situations. Barriers fall faster, and thus does the protective shield in front of our most hated omnic.
Despite all these things, Orisa alone is not an effective hero. She struggles to win duels and is almost always reliant on a healer, but is hard to replace then. But that is exactly what an “anchor” is supposed to do – gather the team around them, and surely there is one or another healer among them.
Currently, Orisa is still on the PTR, but it won’t be long until she is released. I have high hopes that the current problems in Overwatch will largely resolve themselves automatically. We just need a release date for Orisa.
When Orisa arrives, Bastion will be nerfed in the same patch anyway – so the Bastion problem should be solved either way. Either by the nerf hammer or by the Orisa counter.
