Doomfist is finally live in Overwatch . But the community is wondering – why is what is okay for Doomfist a disaster for Roadhog?
After a long wait from the fans, the newest hero Doomfist is finally live in Overwatch. While fans are brawling with him through the battlegrounds, smashing enemies into walls in true anime fashion, there is an animated discussion on Reddit that has already gathered more than 17,000 upvotes.
Why is a one-hit combo okay for Doomfist but not for Roadhog?
Many Roadhog fans are still deeply affected by the nerf to their favorite hero. Since they can now kill only a few enemies with the hook-shot-melee combo, Roadhog is hardly played anymore. He is neither a tank nor damage dealer; currently, he is practically just dead weight for his team and a free ultimate charge for the enemy.
However, many fans are now annoyed that Doomfist can also perform a one-shot combo. The punch against the wall combined with a shot almost instantly leads to the demise of most heroes – even through barriers.
At the time, Jeff Kaplan justified the nerf of Roadhog by saying that players do not find the “one-hit combo” acceptable in Overwatch.
However, on Reddit people are wondering: Could it not be that Roadhog would simply have been too big of a counter for Doomfist? And why is what is okay for Doomfist not okay for Roadhog? Or why can Hanzo shred even tanks with a single shot from his scatter arrow?
The author of the thread finds Jeff Kaplan’s reasoning strange, and many comments even perceive it as a “brazen lie”, because if one-shot combos really were a problem, they would be removed from all heroes.
