We reveal to you which heroes in Overwatch are the mainstays and which are hardly ever chosen.
With each new patch of Overwatch, the balancing shifts a bit, and this also affects the game’s meta. Which heroes are selected particularly often? Which heroes are seen less frequently in battle? The website masteroverwatch.com tracks the gameplay of several hundred thousand players and thus compiles statistics. It can therefore be said quite clearly which heroes are particularly popular and which typically languish on the bench.
The percentage indicates how popular a character is – that is, how high the statistical chance is that players will choose this character for their team. Since each hero can only be represented once per team, the theoretical maximum value is 16.66% (100:6). (Click the image to enlarge)
Ana is at the top with her 12.3%, even the latest nerfs seem to have hardly affected her. Closely followed by the tank Reinhardt, who is also present in almost every team – his shield and ultimate are indispensable for most combos. Lúcio, D.Va, and Soldier:76 are also present in most matches, before there is a relatively large gap of almost 3%, followed by Zarya and then the rest of the heroes.
In the lower ranks, we still find Bastion and Sombra, with whom most cannot do anything in competitive mode. With a pick rate of under 1%, Torbjörn, Hanzo, and Widowmaker are also rather unloved.
The following data comes from the competitive mode on PC. On PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the values shift slightly.
