The latest patch for Overwatch is live and has brought some small but significant changes. We’re talking about the buffs and nerfs.
Blizzard has rolled out a new patch for Overwatch, which makes a number of changes to the existing heroes. Even though there are only a few adjustments this time, they are likely to have noticeable effects on the respective characters and may even slightly change the meta in the pro scene.
What changes are there? The patch once again focuses on the support hero Brigitte, who has to take another hit. Her healing is now lower. Widowmaker and Wrecking Ball also have to endure negative adjustments, while Symmetra receives a bit more damage. Some changes, however, are only active on consoles, where Symmetra is nerfed and Ana is buffed.
Recently, Overwatch decided on “hero pools”.
Patch notes for Overwatch from 13.02.2020
Brigitte
- Repair Pack
- The armor for over-healing has been reduced from 75 to 50.
- HPS has been reduced from 60 to 55.
Symmetra
- Photon Projector (Secondary Fire)
- The damage has been increased from 120 to 140.
Widowmaker
- Widow’s Kiss
- The full charge time for shots in zoom mode has been increased from 0.75 to 0.9 seconds.

Wrecking Ball
- Collision Course
- Affected players regain control of their character after 0.5 seconds (previously 1.0 seconds).
Changes only on consoles
Ana
- Biotic Rifle
- The size for projectiles that are supposed to hit allies has been increased from 0.3 to 0.4.
Symmetra
- Turret
- The damage has been reduced from 34 DPS to 30 DPS.
Why are there these changes? Most changes have been accompanied by a brief comment from the developers to explain them better.
- The Widowmaker nerf was necessary because she had too much impact after the weakening of all barriers.
- Brigitte, on the other hand, could grant other players too much armor and heal them so massively that they were virtually immortal for a few seconds.
- Symmetra should also be able to be played “safer” at long distances, which is why her damage was increased.
- Wrecking Ball should not be as deadly with his combo anymore. The reduced loss of control duration should help with that.
What do you think of these changes? Are they good and reasonable or completely inappropriate?
