Overwatch New Hero: Liao – The Great Unknown
The last suggestion is “Liao,” even though most will furrow their brows at this. Liao has only appeared once, mentioned in an article about the founding of Overwatch. Not much is known about Liao, except that she is a woman and was somehow necessary for the formation of the Overwatch organization.
Since Blizzard has brought back almost all other founding members into the game – including those who should technically be dead (Reaper and Soldier:76) – it is likely that Liao will also join the ranks of heroes sooner or later. Another solid tank lady would be exactly what the game needs.
Cortyn says: There is so little known about Liao that she could easily be Blizzard’s “wild card.” Whatever is needed in the game can easily be fulfilled by Liao. Whether she ultimately becomes a tank, a supporter, or a DPS remains to be seen. But Liao will come – because the “founding team” needs to be back together.
There are certainly many more possibilities, like the countless agents that can only be seen fragmentarily in some cinematics. Which one Blizzard ultimately chooses is still up in the air. In the coming months – or at the latest during GamesCom – we will surely learn more.
