Blizzard shows in an initial image what the next hero in Overwatch will have as a weapon. Check out the gun here.
A Healer as a Sniper – is that Sombra?
Actually, everyone expected that new information about upcoming heroes from Overwatch would take a while, but Blizzard doesn’t seem to want to wait long. Today, they released an image of a blueprint on Twitter showing a weapon that doesn’t exist in the game yet.
According to the image, it is a report from Angela Ziegler (Mercy), who reports to her superiors J. Morrison (Soldier: 76) and G. Reyes (Reaper) about a new weapon that she developed together with Torbjörn. The report obviously comes from the time when Overwatch was still a functioning organization.
However, the blueprints themselves are even more interesting. Because evidently, the technology from Mercy’s Caduceus Staff has been transferred into a sniper rifle. Thus, it would be possible for a sniper to fire healing shots over long distances to their allies. The attached text from Torbjörn and Mercy suggests that the weapon was intended for healing purposes only – even if other colleagues see it differently. The ammunition appears to be grenades for healing, which leads to further speculations. It is therefore possible that the weapon fires grenades over distance that heal all nearby allies upon impact.
But who wields this weapon? Here come some of the previous leaks into play, suggesting that Sombra is the next supporter. She has already been hinted at in some images within the game world, and Jeff Kaplan has also indicated that players should “slowly start thinking more about Sombra”.
We will keep you updated and report as soon as there is news.
