The fans are waiting for the new Overwatch heroine Sombra. Is she possibly being announced at GamesCom?
So many hints, so little knowledge
Rarely have the developers of a game played so much trickery with the players as in the hidden announcements surrounding the character Sombra. The Overwatch heroine, who obviously specializes in manipulating data and invisibility, appears in many places repeatedly. This ranges from hidden codes in announcements by Jeff Kaplan to a swirling invisibility effect in the video for the “Summer Games” of Overwatch. Recently, even the game code was read out, which revealed hints in a hidden achievement.
Many players on Reddit believe that the long-awaited announcement of Sombra will finally happen at GamesCom. Apart from the upcoming Bastion cinematic, the BlizzCon program regarding Overwatch also looks relatively sparse, so it would fit perfectly into the plan.
How exactly this announcement might look is a matter of debate. The most interesting theory is that players, by decrypting the clues, ensure that “Sombra hacks into the game” – meaning the release will happen when players have cracked the big puzzle (whatever that may be). Others believe that during Blizzard’s presentation there will be a “technical mishap” where a new hint might be displayed or even a “message from Sombra to the world” is published.
