The PTR for Overwatch has been updated and brings the highly anticipated map “Oasis”.
Blizzard is feverishly working on the next big patch for Overwatch, which will mainly bring changes to Symmetra that will be significantly more aggressive in her remake. The latest update of the PTR version of Overwatch now also brought the next map “Oasis”, which, like Lijiang Tower, Ilios, and Nepal, turns out to be a control point map. As usual, only one point is played at a time, and both teams must try to capture it.
As a unique feature, Oasis is the first map with a “Jump Pad” – those who wish can also explore the skies, even with heroes known for their grounded nature (that’s right, Roadhog). This opens up new uses for various ultimates – after all, who expects a flying Reinhardt or a descending McCree aiming his “High Noon” at the awe-struck crowd?
The colleagues from Overwatch Central have created a nice video about the new map, where they introduce all three control points individually and highlight the key positions.
Especially cool: The maps have real “life”, as the streets are filled with traffic – which is deadly on contact. You can’t always push all enemies into an abyss; sometimes it has to be a car.
Apart from the map, it’s also rumored that the patch will bring a Christmas event in its final form, featuring new skins, cosmetics, and a temporary game mode – early sound files suggest this.
The patch does not have a fixed release date yet. However, if it is indeed supposed to bring a Christmas event, the remaining weeks can be counted on one hand.
By the way, Sombra has also hacked into Street Fighter V – and it looks pretty sexy.
