Just a few hours ago at Blizzcon 2017, Moira was revealed, the new support in Overwatch. A deeper insight has now explained all her abilities and her story!

The Irish scientist Moira O’Deorain originally worked as a geneticist for Overwatch. In her pursuit of knowledge about the function of the human body and its evolution, she had little scruples.
Overwatch put a stop to her unorthodox, sometimes immoral approaches – which led her to Gabriel Reyes’ Blackwatch. A welcome invitation, as anything that kept her from her research was merely a nuisance to her and her impatience. After Overwatch came to an end, Moira joined Talon to continue her research.
The concept of Moira is that of a rather dubious healer, standing in stark contrast to the benevolent supporters like Mercy, Zenyatta, and Lúcio. She restores life to some by taking it from others.
Moira’s Abilities

The abilities of the healer revolve entirely around her duality of giving and taking life. Below, we have compiled a detailed list of her powers for you:
- Biotic Grasp (Weapon):
- Moira’s weapons are her hands, enhanced by her genetic modification. They lay the foundation for how she operates.
- Regeneration (Left Mouse Button): Moira heals allies in a narrow, cone-shaped area in front of her. The healing can be maintained as long as there is charge left in the healing display. The display gradually fills itself.
- Decay (Right Mouse Button): Moira rapidly drains life from the opponent. The damage dealt significantly faster fills her healing display as it is nourished by the enemy’s life.
- Moira’s weapons are her hands, enhanced by her genetic modification. They lay the foundation for how she operates.
- Fade (Shift): In a fraction of a second, Moira disappears and becomes completely invisible. In this brief moment, she becomes extremely fast and can change position unseen before reappearing. A mix of Reaper’s Shadow Step, Phantom Form, and Sombra’s Teleporter.

- Biotic Orb (E): Moira fires a biotic orb that bounces off surfaces and hits targets in its vicinity for its duration and charge.
- Regeneration (E + Left Mouse Button): If the orb is selected and fired with the left mouse button, Moira sends a healing orb on its way. This moves slowly but very far forward to heal all damaged allies within range as long as the charge lasts.
- Decay (E + Right Mouse Button): The alternative fire mode of the orb has the same effect as the alternate fire of the main weapon. It deals damage to nearby enemies and bounces off surfaces, making it a significant threat, especially in tight spaces and corners.
- Ultimate: Coalescence (Q): Moira merges her powers of giving and stealing life into a massive beam with extremely high range. Every ally in the beam is continuously healed while every enemy takes significant damage.
The idea behind Moira’s set of abilities is that she can only heal as much as she deals damage to enemies. It is therefore important to find the balance in order to play as effectively as possible. In her ultimate, she should no longer have to make that choice but simply be able to pursue her work with all her might.
Moira’s Skins in Overwatch
However, the presentation of a hero wouldn’t be a presentation of a hero at Blizzard if there weren’t skins! Here, too, the designers have come up with a lot that not only matches the character but also reflects the backstory – or is simply entertaining.
