Mercy from Overwatch is once again receiving changes. Her resurrection playstyle is likely to change once more.
When it comes to the balance of the healer Mercy in Overwatch, there is almost weekly news. This week is no exception. Once again, the Swiss healer is being revised. This time there is a small buff.
Since the last major update, Mercy’s mass resurrection has become an ordinary ability that can only be applied to individual characters. The cooldown of 30 seconds was reduced to 10 seconds during the ultimate “Valkyrie”, which often led to Mercy being able to resurrect 3 or even 4 players.
This was recently changed, so that Mercy’s resurrection permanently had a cooldown of 30 seconds and was not reset even during Valkyrie, but received double the range.
Additional Resurrection Charge for Mercy
The latest change is now on the PTR:
When Mercy activates the ultimate “Valkyrie”, she receives a temporary “charge” of resurrection. This means that she can immediately resurrect 2 players in a row (if the ability was not on cooldown). If Mercy does not resurrect anyone during the entire Valkyrie, this additional charge will go unused. The increase in range has also been removed.
The developers hope that this change will give Mercy a bit more potential for “small” group resurrections. However, the total number of resurrections will be smaller than before the last changes.
Furthermore, the resurrection no longer resets the cooldown of Guardian Angel. This makes it easier for enemies to kill a Mercy who positions herself poorly to resurrect a teammate.
What do you think of these Mercy changes? Are these exactly the small changes that were still needed? Or should Mercy be left alone for a while?
Have you seen the “secret” buffs from the last patch? Especially Sombra is thrilled …
