Overwatch will improve on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In a few weeks, disruptive players can be reported!
In a community as large as Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch, unfortunately, there are not only nice teammates. Every now and then, a few bad apples mix into the matches, robbing everyone else of the fun. Whether through offensive words in chat or particularly insidious ways of sabotaging the game.
On PC, such players can simply be reported. With just a handful of clicks, the culprit is flagged and may be temporarily or even permanently excluded from the game for repeated offenses.
But on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it’s not that easy. So far, there is no reporting system, as Blizzard has to take detours through the platforms of Sony and Microsoft.
Reporting players on PS4 and Xbox One in Overwatch
Blizzard has been working for months to enable console players to report – and soon it will be reality!
In the official forum, Jeff Kaplan, the Game Director of Overwatch, has now confirmed that the report feature will be introduced on consoles with the upcoming patch 1.14.
He also points out that both the reporting system and the punishments for the corresponding players are still “in development”.
“We will continue to improve the system over time. We are working on tougher penalties for repeat offenders. Additionally, we are developing a mail system that will inform you if your reports have led to penalties. Ultimately, these notifications should be displayed in the game.”
Clearly, Blizzard has taken the community’s complaints seriously – so it will only be a few more weeks until there is a little more justice and fairness on PS4 and Xbox One.
