Quietly, a feature has been removed from Overwatch . Players can no longer rate their matches.
The current Patch 1.12 of Overwatch is in the testing phase on the PTR. Players can try out the latest features and changes to the heroes here before they are implemented in the live version of the game.
Players have noticed a small change that has nothing to do with the game’s balance – a feature is no longer included in the game. Normally, players could rate each match at the end with a “Plus”, a “Minus”, or a “Neutral” symbol. This feature will be removed with Patch 1.12.
“Rate Game” did not provide insights
In the official forum, there has been an inquiry as to why the developers have decided to discontinue it. Game Director Jeff Kaplan addressed this and explained:
“We had high hopes for this feature, but after more than a year of the game in a live state and a long time in beta, we could only learn these things from it:
- New players use the feature more frequently than veterans
- Players like to win
- Players do not like to lose
We want to remove as much unnecessary clutter from the user interface as possible. Since we did not get significant results from this feature, we decided to remove it.”
Mein-MMO says: The reasoning is understandable and logical, but it is a bit strange that match rating is now being removed. It was long said that in “Quick Match”, how many players rate a match positively or negatively has an impact, which could lead to new opponents being assigned after a few rounds. Now, players will likely have to manually leave a game and rejoin the queue.
There is also a major change to Roadhog. He loses a significant part of his “one-hit” potential.
