Overwatch doesn’t give players a break. The “Lunar New Year” event starts next week – we have the exact date.
The Christmas event “Winter Wonderland” of Overwatch just ended a few weeks ago and the cosmetic update, featuring a lot of new skins in the regular loot boxes, has also just gone live a few days ago. However, Overwatch clearly knows no breaks and is already looking to kick off the next in-game event.
Via Twitter, Overwatch has now announced that the “Lunar New Year” event returns in 2018 as well. The start date for the Lunar New Year is already February 8, 2018 – just in about 6 days!
Last year, the Lunar New Year introduced the “Capture the Flag” mode as a special event feature. The mode was so popular with players that they immediately demanded it become a permanent game mode.
This year, in 2018, there will also be skins from the previous year to obtain. However, since this year is the “Year of the Dog” in the Chinese calendar, there will also be other thematic additions.
New Content in Lunar New Year 2018
That there will be fresh content has also been confirmed by Blizzard on Twitter. At this time, however, there are no reveals regarding potential skins, victory poses, voice lines, or even a new game mode.
The new features will surely be released within the next few days. If that does not happen, we can at least hope for a leak – because they have always been reliable and timely in the past events.
In any case, Blizzard is currently doing quite well at providing regular content for Overwatch. Fans are likely to have little to complain about right now.
