Anyone who makes mistakes in Overwatch gets kicked out. This is no different in the Overwatch League. It’s especially bitter when you get banned before your first appearance. This happened to the new tank player of Dallas Fuel, Minseok “OGE” Son. The kicker: He is in the league to replace xQc, who was thrown out for being banned by Blizzard too often.
Dallas Fuel is plagued by bad luck. The professional team of the Overwatch League is actually one of the best in the world. As Team EnVyUs, they had previously recorded many successes, which is not reflected in their career in the league.
At the moment, Dallas Fuel is the third-worst team across both phases of the Overwatch League – with 5 wins to 13 losses. They have not only well-known but also very good players in their roster.
The problem lies with the players at the moment. Dallas seems to be cursed with players who know no regard and rules. First, they fired the tank Félix “xQc” Lengyel – now their new substitute player Minseok “OGE” Son is banned by Blizzard before he can even play.
xQc is out, OGE banned for account boosting
The tank player xQc has been permanently thrown out of Dallas Fuel. The management came to this decision after too many violations of the “Code of Conduct”. Félix has received too many bans after trash talk with colleagues and casters was rated as “racist” and “homophobic”.
As a replacement for xQc, the team then hired the South Korean OGE. OGE is a new and rather unknown player who had previously only appeared twice in APEX with moderate success. However, there were already problems with him for Fuel even before he could see the spotlight.
According to an official statement from the Overwatch League, OGE has been banned. The reason given by the company is “account boosting” in summer 2017. A good player takes money to play the buyer’s account in his name at a higher rank.
OGE is banned before he can play
In the EULA (End User License Agreement), account boosting is listed as a prohibited activity – and is usually even punished with the withdrawal of the gaming license. OGE only receives a ban for four games of the Overwatch League.
So far, OGE has not been seen on stage at all. His ban is effective even before he can play with Dallas Fuel, which will delay his expected participation until April 12 in the match against Seoul.
OGE just arrived in the USA this week and immediately started training. The team seems to rely on him further, even though they cannot deploy the Korean for a while.
