Bad news for all Easter Overwatch fans: the egg hunt is canceled this year.
The last major event of Overwatch was the Chinese New Year celebration, which was many weeks ago. Fans of the game are slowly starting to wonder what Blizzard has planned for the future. In the official forums and on Reddit, players keep asking when the next big event with skins and special game modes might be.
The next possible date is already coming up in the next few days, as Easter is approaching, which would be the perfect opportunity since it is also celebrated in World of Warcraft.
Due to Blizzard’s silence, expectations among fans grew stronger, which is why Jeff Kaplan, the Game Director, has now spoken out in the official forum and clarified that there will be no event for Easter.
“Sorry! We have no plans for an Easter event this year. But we wish everyone happy holidays!”
So “Easterwatch” is probably off the table for now. Many players were looking forward to Mei with an Easter egg ice block. Well, maybe next year.
Blizzard has stated in the past that they want to approach things differently in Overwatch and not only focus on the “typical” holidays. Therefore, there was no event for Valentine’s Day, for example. However, for spring, the developers have already announced that they would have new skins for some characters in the works – so it can’t be long until the next event.
