Another new map could soon arrive in Overwatch ! The scrapyard Junkertown already has a voice line!
Overwatch is currently testing patch 1.14 on the PTR – this mainly includes the new game modes Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. Especially for the former, the new map Château Guillard has been developed, the home of Widowmaker when she was just the daughter of a noble family. However, clever players have discovered hints of a new map: Junkertown!
On Tumblr, the user aku no homu released a sound file that was hidden in the game client of patch 1.14 of Overwatch. Athena (the announcement voice) says, “Welcome to Junkertown!”
Junkertown is the home of Junkrat
Junkertown is the home of Junkrat and is located in Australia. Not much is known about the place, except that it was largely devastated during the Omnic Crisis and is now a big scrapyard. People create everything they need to survive from the garbage. It is not surprising that one of the biggest pastimes is mech duels with self-built robots being fought in the streets.
The appearance of the announcement voice of Junkertown fuels the hopes of the fans. Many expect that Blizzard will not only reveal a new map at Gamescom but also a new cinematic – with Junkrat and Roadhog in the lead roles. At the same time, the Junkertown map will also be revealed.
It was similar at Gamescom 2016. Here, the cinematic “The Last Bastion” was released, closely followed by the then new map Eichenwalde, where the cinematic took place.
In just under a week, we will know more – as Gamescom takes place from August 22 to August 26 in Cologne.
