Is Pharah from Overwatch the child of Reinhardt and Ana? A well-founded theory suggests: Definitely.
In the vastness of the internet, there are plenty of theories about the characters of Overwatch, and sometimes imagination runs wild, creating unlikely pairings in fanfictions. However, a theory on Reddit received over 6000 upvotes within a few hours, which seems simple yet brilliant. That Pharah is Ana’s daughter is already known. But Reinhardt could be the father. According to the user Decibelle, this is cleverly hinted at in the game – based on the skins.
Does that sound absurd? Then check out this theory:
The majority of common (“blue”) skins in Overwatch follow a certain theme. Often, they are simply colors in the respective hero’s language, but often also specific (broad) categories.
Here are some examples:
- D.Va – Flavors (Blueberry, Lime, Mandarin, Watermelon)
- Junkrat – Destruction (Drowned, Radiated, Faded, Rusted)
- Genji – Minerals (Azurite, Malachite, Ochre, Vermilion)
- Zenyatta – Elements (Earth, Water, Air, Leaf Green)
This does not apply to all characters, but many. Now if we look at the skins of Reinhardt and Ana, these two also follow a theme:
- Reinhardt – Metals (Chromium Green, Cobalt, Copper, Brass)
- Ana – Gemstones (Garnet, Peridot, Turquoise, Citrine)
And this is where the solution to the riddle comes in: Pharah also has 4 skins, which fall into 2 categories. Namely both in Metal and Gemstones: Amethyst, Copper, Emerald, Titanium.
Or as Decibelle calls it: Pharah is 50% Reinhardt and 50% Ana.
The other hints in the game at least somewhat suggest this or can at least be interpreted that way. Ana and Reinhardt frequently flirt in their quotes, and they have served together in Overwatch in the past – so it could be possible.
Is there any truth to the theory? Perhaps we will find out soon, as Blizzard plans to reveal something about the relationships of some characters in the near future.
