Jeff Kaplan speaks up in the official forum of Overwatch promising a fix for the Ice Wall glitch that has been troubling players for weeks.
Just yesterday we reported on the annoying Ice Wall glitch, which allows Mei to take an elevator up, outside of some maps. This glitch caused a lot of frustration among players as it practically ruined the 3v3 arcade mode. Mei players outside the map could not take any damage, while they were easily shooting down the opposing team from above.
Blizzard’s Silence Comes to an End
The community was especially upset that Blizzard had not commented on this game-breaking glitch. But the silence has come to an end. Blizzard’s Jeff Kaplan spoke up in the official Overwatch forum. Kaplan explained that Blizzard is currently testing whether the fix works. Apparently, this glitch is not so easy to eliminate and has already caused headaches for the team.
Now Blizzard believes it has found a fix for the Ice Wall issue. However, Kaplan also emphasized that there is a chance the fix might not work and players should not get their hopes up too soon.
But if all goes well, the glitch should be fixed today via a hotfix.

Furthermore, Kaplan wrote that the Ice Wall bug is clearly viewed as cheating in Blizzard’s eyes. He warns players against abusing this glitch and asks all players to report anyone who exploits the Ice Wall glitch. According to Kaplan, Blizzard will enforce “aggressive consequences” against those who exploit the glitch. Overwatch is a PvP experience and abusing such game mechanics comes at the expense of opposing players.
Kaplan concludes by apologizing for the fact that the bug has been in the game for so long and hopes that it, along with the players who have exploited the glitch, will soon disappear from Overwatch.
