The loot chances in HotS, Overwatch and Hearthstone are identical in several regions – does this also apply to Europe?
A few months ago, Blizzard (and all other game developers) were forced to publish the probabilities of loot boxes in their games. The reason for this is a law aimed at combating gambling addiction. Now Blizzard has also released the probabilities for the various loot tiers in the different loot boxes in South Korea – they are exactly the same as in China.
Here again are the loot chances from the individual games:
Loot chances in Hearthstone
Each pack contains at least one card of rare or better quality.
On average, every 5th pack contains an epic card.
On average, every 20th pack contains a legendary card.
The chances of receiving a high-quality card increase with each opened pack that did not contain a card of that quality.
Loot chances in Heroes of the Storm
A loot box contains an average of 2.9 common items.
A loot box contains an average of one rare item.
On average, there is one epic item every 4.5 loot boxes.
On average, there is one legendary item every 17.5 loot boxes.
The chances of getting a higher quality item increase with each loot box that did not contain an epic or legendary item. This does not apply
to loot boxes from events, the progression system, or newly rolled boxes.
Loot chances in Overwatch
Each loot box contains at least one item of rare or better quality.
On average, there is one epic item every 5.5 boxes.
On average, there is one legendary item every 13.5 boxes.
Since these values are identical in Korea and China, some conclusions can be drawn. Therefore, a large part of the community is now concluding that the loot chances are identical in all parts of the world. However, there has not yet been a clear statement from Blizzard on this issue.
