Blizzard has done it again! The online shooter Overwatch, released on May 24, is a complete success.
As Blizzard has announced, there are now more than seven million players in the online game. This is an amazing number, considering that the game just went live a little over a week ago.
Blizzard can be rightfully proud
“Over the months and weeks leading up to the launch, we noticed a lot of love and support for Overwatch – from Blizzard gamers, FPS fans, and even from people who had never played a game like this before – and we are very grateful for the passion and enthusiasm from everyone,” says Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We worked hard to create this game – and a new game universe – that everyone can enjoy. We are excited about this successful launch and look forward to all the fun, competition, and new content that is still ahead of us.”
Since the launch, players have switched heroes 326 million times and transported 11 million payloads to their objectives on the battlefields. In total, more than 119 million hours of gameplay have been spent. Blizzard is also pleased that Overwatch is not only resonating with players but is also among the highest-rated games of the year. The press is very enthusiastic about the online game.

Just like with World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, or Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard does not reinvent the wheel but gives it a better rounding and chrome rims – and is once again completely successful.
