With the announcement of the “new era of Overwatch“, Blizzard directly presented 5 out of 10 new characters that will appear in the hero shooter this year. One of the heroines is particularly well-received by the community, and for good reason.
Which heroine is being talked about? In the last announcement regarding new content and changes in Overwatch, 5 out of 10 heroines and heroes were introduced, which you can play at the start of the new season on February 10, 2026. This includes two new supports, two DPS, and a new tank who is already very popular among the players of the shooter (and with me as well). Because what can I say, Overwatch seems to know its fanbase, and I can’t excuse myself from that.
MyMMO editor Caro says: Blizzard presented a new heroine that brings me (alongside Jetpack Cat) back into the game after a two-year break. Justifying myself and pretending that I’m interested because of her gameplay mechanics would be more embarrassing than admitting the truth: Overwatch released a new mommy that simply weakens me and the rest of the community.
The talk is about “Domina”, the heir and vice president of the Vishkar Corporation from the Overwatch universe, who fights alongside Talon. She is considered a long-range tank capable of controlling distance, erecting barriers, pushing back opponents, and immobilizing them. With her ultimate, she fires additional barriers of hard light that can trap opponents and detonate after a short time.
With her health pool and shields, Domina is not easily brought to her knees. Based on the reactions in the community, fans rather want the exact opposite. Because for them, her name is program.

Fans love Domina because the developers made a specific design decision
Why is Domina so well-received? On Reddit, there are countless comments where the community expresses its enthusiasm regarding the new heroine. In this context, her class and gameplay are rather secondary. Domina is able to convince players solely through her appearance and demeanor:
- “Domina is a perfect name for mommy,” confesses thefranchise305.
- “If Domina becomes a source of income, I won’t even be mad,” admits luskop.
- “That’s how they get more people to play tank,” finds EffectiveAnxietyBone.
- “I hope that it’s fun to play her (although the burst-laser is already very promising), because I love her design. She’s like Emma Frost from Rival, if Netease finally gave her back her sense of fashion,” writes vegetaalex66.
The developers have hit the mark with Domina’s design and created another candidate for the “Dommy-Mommy” genre. This includes, for example, the aforementioned Emma Frost from Marvel Rivals or Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village.
It is a design decision that works based on player reactions. And there’s a reason for that, as the Overwatch team explains.
Why does Blizzard make the characters so attractive? In an interview with Gamespot, Senior Producer Kenny Hudson discussed why Overwatch creates such hot characters.
Mostly, it’s about proportions, size, and scale. The artists find it significantly easier if the characters have longer limbs and legs and a larger torso to apply new geometry in upcoming skins.
Silhouettes play an important role in character design because they make a character quickly recognizable and unique, whether as a model in a video game or in other media such as movies or series. However, justifying a character’s sex appeal solely by its function sounds a bit naive. After all, you won’t find any comments about Domina’s grand hitbox in the Overwatch subreddit.
In addition to Domina, another heroine has been announced that the community has been waiting for for a long time. She was considered a lost legend for many years, but Blizzard gave her a new chance: After 2,500 hours in Overwatch, I never wanted to play a hero shooter again, then they showed me a cat… with jetpacks.
