The community is dissatisfied with Hanzo. Blizzard is making improvements and giving the archer from Overwatch a bit of his youth back.
The Winter Wonderland 2017 event of Overwatch is live and not only provided players with a new game mode but also 7 new legendary skins. Besides some pretty cool skins for Sombra and Junkrat, the highlight for the community is Hanzo’s “Casual” skin.
True to its name, it portrays Hanzo in casual clothing, showing how he might dress on the street when he is not embodying the leader of the dark Shimada clan.
The skin is based largely on the Overwatch comic “Reflections” that Blizzard released for Christmas 2016, to showcase the “softer” side of the heroes. Here, players saw the protagonists of Overwatch with their loved ones, celebrating Christmas or at least writing letters to their friends and family.
The player base immediately fell in love with Hanzo’s “Casual” outfit and demanded it as a skin, which was implemented a year later.
Hanzo doesn’t need hair dye
However, not all players are satisfied yet. There has been ongoing criticism in recent days that the skin does not match the original and is more of a “Hanzo retirement skin”, particularly because his beard and hair are already gray.
Blizzard has understood the community’s criticism and shares the view that Hanzo should resemble the model from “Reflections” more closely. Therefore, the designers have revisited the skin and are already working on adjustments.

Hanzo’s hair will be dyed black again, the undercut will be enhanced by a more thorough shave, and his sticking “anime strand” can finally cast a shadow again.
The changes are expected to go live in 2018, with the next major patch, and will be retroactive. Those who have already unlocked the skin will see the adjustments after the update. The “old skin” will therefore disappear.
