This has made Blizzard few friends. Instead of a nerf, Hanzo was strengthened in the latest update of Overwatch.
Although the introduction of the latest hero Brigitte is currently overshadowing the balance discussions of Overwatch, most players are waiting for the big rework of Hanzo. His ability “Scatter Arrow” is currently able to take out characters with a lot of health without much effort.
With a cooldown of only 10 seconds, the arrow is often used and is particularly one of the deadliest mechanics in Overwatch in tight corridors.
The last patch has adjusted the Scatter Arrow – but unintentionally and positively. Instead of a cooldown of 10 seconds, the Scatter Arrow now only has a cooldown of 8 seconds. In plain language, this means that there are now up to 20 percent more Scatter Arrows that can take players apart even faster.
Early change caused Hanzo buff
The blame for this mess is a small programming error. Hanzo will be reworked in one of the next updates and will receive new abilities that will likely have different cooldowns. The developers had already teased that Hanzo will get a “Rapid Shot” and the Scatter Arrow will be retired. It is assumed that the Rapid Shot has a cooldown of 8 seconds and this was mistakenly already applied to the Scatter Arrow.
Since the next update is supposed to come soon, the developers decided not to correct the error. It simply wouldn’t be worth the effort to bring another hotfix if Hanzo is going to be reworked soon anyway.
For a few days, Hanzo will thus be stronger than before. Those who consider themselves “Hanzo mains” should make the most of this golden time before it runs out.
Are you making the most of your time with Hanzo? Or are you not playing at all until the saving patch arrives?
