The rework of Hanzo is here and a whole range of players have been redeemed. Finally, you can proudly play the archer from Overwatch.
The Patch 1.23 of Overwatch has been live for a few days, bringing the major overhaul of the hero Hanzo. After nearly two years of complaints, the archer has now been revamped to the satisfaction of most players and is enjoying great popularity.
What has changed? Hanzo has lost his scatter arrow, which allowed him to eliminate tanks with just one shot by simply aiming at the ground directly in front of him. Now he has rapid-fire, allowing him to shoot six arrows in quick succession. Additionally, Hanzo can use his sonar arrow more frequently to scout the map more effectively, albeit with a smaller radius. Also new is a dodge roll in a specific direction during the jump.
How does this affect gameplay? To play Hanzo successfully, more skill is now required than before, as the shots must actually hit the target and not just the ground in front of the target. This is balanced out by a faster projectile movement of the arrows, so you have to anticipate less where an enemy is moving in the next second. Thanks to increased mobility, Hanzo can better pursue enemies or flee.
What does the community think? Most players praise the Hanzo rework in forums and on Reddit. The archer is fun again and really good Hanzo players can now shine much more than before without being mocked. A good “Hanzo main” can now be easily recognized.
How do you like the new Hanzo? Have you tried the archer yet? Do you like the new playstyle or do you miss the “scatter shot”?
