In Overwatch the spooky season has begun, as the Halloween event is live. We will tell you what to keep in mind.
Just a few minutes ago, the spooky season has returned to Overwatch. The “Overwatch Halloween Terror” event 2017 is live on PC, PS4, and Xbox One and if you get past the Overwatch queue, you can play it too!
As is customary for Overwatch events, there are special loot boxes during this time. The Halloween loot boxes replace all regular loot boxes that you earn during the duration of the event. They are guaranteed to contain an item from the Halloween event. This includes skins, voice lines, victory poses, highlight intros, spray logos, and profile pictures.

If you don’t want to rely on luck, you can also directly buy the desired cosmetic items for in-game credits. The rule that was already introduced during the Summer Games also applies here:
- Old items from last year cost the normal price – a legendary skin costs 1,000 credits
- New items from this year cost three times the price – a legendary skin would then cost 3,000 credits
Junkenstein’s Revenge is back
As is fitting for an event, there is also a special game mode again. Junkenstein’s Revenge invites players once again to team up in groups of four to face the Zombie Omnics (Zomnics) and defend the gate of the Eichenwalde fortress. With cool voice lines and quite challenging on higher difficulties, this mode can certainly entertain for a few hours. Additionally, there is a cool “Endless” mode where Widowmaker, Zenyatta, Torbjörn, and Genji can also be used!
The event runs for exactly 3 weeks, from October 10 to October 31, 2017.
If you want to earn or buy the corresponding Halloween loot boxes, you should stock up before then.
Long queue in Overwatch at Halloween
At the start of Halloween Terror 2017, there are again increased queues in Overwatch. Players receive the message that up to 20,000 players are ahead of them in the game. Therefore, it can take several minutes before you actually get into the game. The positive side effect is that matchmaking with so many players works a bit faster and better.
Which skin do you want to grab? Is it the sexy witch skin of Mercy from last year? Or are you really hot for the Cthulhu Zenyatta?
