Blizzard’s success with Overwatch continues – the hero shooter wins a total of 4 titles at the DICE Awards.
By now, it should be clear to everyone that Overwatch has made quite a significant impact in the shooter scene. Many gaming magazines referred to Blizzard’s hero shooter as “the new standard” in this genre upon release, and the game is now being showered with more and more awards.
As was the case this time at the DICE Awards ceremony in Las Vegas, held immediately after the DICE Summit, where Jeff Kaplan also gave a presentation.
Overwatch is the shining winner and took home the coveted title in a total of four categories:
- Action Game of the Year
- Outstanding Achievement in Online Gameplay
- Outstanding Achievement in Game Design
- and the main title Game of the Year
Other winners include titles like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Achievement in Story, Outstanding Technical Achievement, and Adventure Game of the Year) and Dark Souls 3 (Role-Playing Game of the Year).
However, the development of Overwatch is far from over. The developers regularly add new events featuring skins, maps, and heroes. Currently, the 24th hero is “in announcement”, which is expected in the coming weeks.
