The lost game data of Overwatch should now be fixed. However, Blizzard makes no promises that everything is truly restored.
Recovery successful, but “without guarantee”
Last week, a very frustrating bug occurred in the PS4 version of Overwatch. Some players on PlayStation found that their account was affected by a “rollback”. Various achievements, such as player level, rank, credits, and statistics were reset to a previous point or were completely missing. After remaining silent on this issue for a long time, community manager Lyllira has now announced in the official forum: The error has been fixed, and the restoration of accounts has been completed.
However, it wasn’t entirely smooth, as it had to be admitted:
“Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we have restored everything that was lost, but we have done our best to bring back as much as possible with the means available to us. In the future, we are taking several steps to facilitate the restoration of such data and reduce the chance of such a problem occurring at all.”
Additionally, some players are still unable to find the various items from loot boxes (skins, voicelines, emotes, etc.) in their hero gallery.
However, this data is not lost; it is merely a display error – no loot from the loot boxes was lost. A fix for this issue is currently being worked on, but a firm date cannot yet be provided.
