Blizzard is hosting a “Free Weekend” for Overwatch. Anyone can take a look at the hero shooter for free.
Overwatch is on everyone’s lips after BlizzCon. Not only was the new hero Sombra introduced, but also some new game modes and maps were presented. Blizzard apparently wants to take advantage of the current attention to attract some new players to the hero shooter. Very soon, a “Free Weekend” will take place, where all interested players can try Overwatch completely for free.
Players on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 can play Overwatch for free starting November 18, 2016, at 8:00 PM. The event runs until Monday, allowing you to enjoy the weekend.
All users on PC can simply install the game via the Battle.net software, while console players use the stores of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Those who decide to purchase the game after the weekend can transfer their progress – just make sure to use the same account for the purchase as for the “Free Weekend”.
Cortyn says: A free weekend for Overwatch is just the right time to bring in new players and friends to the shooter. However, I hope that the “Sombra Patch” is live by then, as most of my “yet-to-be-converted” friends are talking about Sombra. It would be a shame if they couldn’t try her out during the free weekend.
Update: Apparently, Sombra will not be released by that time, as Blizzard’s announcement states that “all 22 heroes” will be available for selection – Sombra would be number 23.
