Anyone who insults the opposing team in Overwatch will soon be given different words by Blizzard.
Toxic Overwatch players will be sent to bed by Mom
No matter how good the matchmaking in Overwatch may be, there are still matches that are simply frustrating for one side. To add a little salt to the wound of the losing team, many players throw back a stupid remark. Instead of an appreciative “gg”, they often let out a “gg ez” – meaning “Good Game, it was easy”. These 4 letters have caused so much frustration among players that just typing this phrase often led to several “Report Player” entries.
In the latest patch of Overwatch, Blizzard is addressing this behavior. If someone still writes “gg ez” in the general channel, they will see something completely different written in the chat. Here are a few examples from the list:
- “It was a great honor to play with all of you. Thank you very much.”
- “Oh, Mom! Just one more round before you send me to bed. Ooops, wrong chat.”
- “I feel very, very small… please hold me.”
- “Mom says that people my age shouldn’t suck their thumbs.”
- “I am trying to be a better person. It’s hard, but I really am trying.”
- “I feel insecure right now, but thank you all for playing with me.”
- “Good game! Have fun, everyone!”
Whether this change will go live on the server and whether other word combinations will also be affected by this “unwanted change” remains to be seen.
Mein-MMO says: In any case, a funny step by Blizzard in response to players’ complaints. It won’t take long before toxic players simply choose a new expression to humiliate the opposing team. Until then, these phrases will certainly provide some amusement – and at least “gg ez” will belong to the past.
