Sometimes it’s all about winning in Overwatch and you can gladly use every sneaky trick available to you…
Actually, matches in Overwatch are decided by various factors. The skill of individual players, their teamwork, and adaptability are probably the most important traits. But now and then players secure victory by resorting to methods their opponents simply do not expect – like using the chat. Streamer Beeftipsy took advantage of this.
What happened? During the fight on the map Volskaya Industries, Beeftipsy positioned himself at one of the side entrances to stop the enemy defenders. However, since agile characters were in constant motion, landing a headshot would have been difficult without revealing his position through some missed shots. But how do you get an opponent to simply stand still for a moment? Right, you address them in the chat.
That’s exactly what he did, typing “Hey Ashe” in the global chat. After Ashe stood still to respond with “???”, it was already done. That brief moment of standing still was enough time for him to land a headshot and send Ashe back to the respawn room.
Streamer acknowledges his “mistake”: Beeftipsy apparently feels a bit guilty afterward, admitting, “I’ll probably go to hell for this.” Nevertheless, he seemed to have a lot of fun with it. Quite unlike Ashe, who, after her hit, expresses her anger in the chat and lets loose her fury.
What do you think of such an approach? Is it mean, unsportsmanlike, and should it be banned? Or is it just a fun tactic that only works a few times anyway?
