The latest comic “Uprising” reveals a lot about the Overwatch story but also brings plenty of skin ideas to light.
As promised, Blizzard has released a new comic that sheds more light on the past of Overwatch . The latest comic “Uprising” focuses on the relationships among the Overwatch heroes as well as the conflict of the leader wanting to do the right thing while also adhering to the regulations.
Gabriel Reyes (Reaper) and James Morrison (Soldier: 76) are contemplating how to respond to the issues in England. Omnics and humans are in conflict, as the omnics are being oppressed. Officially, Overwatch is no longer allowed to act, as an investigation is already underway. However, Reyes has already sent McCree, who is “just coincidentally” on vacation in London.
Meanwhile, Morrison observes the young Lena Oxton (Tracer), who is just starting as a recruit at Overwatch. Tracer manages to persuade Soldier: 76 – even though it goes against orders, Overwatch deploys to prevent an escalation of the conflict.
You can find the comic “Uprising” in German here (Link to the comic).
Those who are proficient in English should check out the “Madefire” comic, which is accompanied by additional effects and sounds, giving it a denser atmosphere.
However, the most exciting aspect for many might be that the comic spoils potential skins that are likely to be part of the event. Since the characters are all a bit younger, we see them in special outfits – Tracer in her training gear, Genji as “Half Human, Half Machine”, Winston as a scientist, and of course Reinhardt, Mercy, and Torbjörn in their operational gear.
However, we haven’t seen anything regarding the potential Widowmaker skin yet – the secret will likely be kept until the last moment.
The nature of the game mode also seems to become clearer as Overwatch sends a team of 4 – Mercy, Reinhardt, Torbjörn, and Tracer – suggesting these might be the four candidates for the game mode. It would be conceivable that we have to protect humans and omnics from each other before the conflict completely escalates.
We will learn more about this on April 11, when the event is expected to go live in the game.
By the way, there won’t be an Easter event – that seems to be off the table for King’s Row Uprising.
