It seems that a developer at Blizzard has let something slip – in a strange way. Doomfist in Overwatch seems to be confirmed!
Since the first announcement of Overwatch and the accompanying cinematic, players have been speculating about what Doomfist could be. The wielder of the big gauntlet has been given new lore bits in the game time and again and recently even devastated the airport in Numbani – at least everything points to that.
With patch 1.13 for PC (2.15 on PS4, Xbox One), Doomfist will likely be implemented into the game as a new hero – at least there are some solid clues pointing to that.
Error message reveals Doomfist
Anyone trying out the latest patch on the public test realm (PTR) of Overwatch will occasionally be confronted with minor bugs. This sometimes even leads to a complete crash of the game. Subsequently, a bug report can be generated and sent to Blizzard so that the developers can fix the issues. This report is generated automatically – and contains exciting information!
According to this, patch 1.13 is known as “Doomfist / Summer Games”. This makes it clear to most fans that not only will the Summer Games be updated in the next patch, but also that Doomfist will finally be available as a playable hero.
Meanwhile, this hint no longer appears in the crash logs, making it all the more suspicious.
Blizzard has yet to comment on the rumors and these hints. However, there is now hardly any doubt in the community that Doomfist will finally take the stage and wreak havoc as a new “evil” character. Whether he will indeed be voiced by Terry Crews, as many fans have requested, will likely be revealed only with the release of patch 1.13 – presumably in July.
