Blizzard has finally revealed when Season 4 of Overwatch will come to an end. Only a few days remain.
For a long time, there was speculation about how much longer the current season of Overwatch would last. Many had already suspected that Season 4 would end yesterday (May 16, 2017), but the game is still actively being played. In the official forum, some users therefore asked the question of what a specific date looks like.
Season 4 ends on May 29
Scott Mercer from the development team commented on this and explained that Season 4 will end on May 29, 2017.
As a reward, depending on the rank achieved, a large number of Competitive Points will be granted, which can be used to unlock golden weapons as a cosmetic item. The following number of Competitive Points is available for the various ranks:
- Bronze (1-1499) – 100 Competitive Points
- Silver (1500-1999) – 200 Competitive Points
- Gold (2000-2499) – 400 Competitive Points
- Platinum (2500-2999) – 800 Competitive Points
- Diamond (3000-3499) – 1200 Competitive Points
- Master (3500-3999) – 2000 Competitive Points
- Grandmaster (4000+) – 3000 Competitive Points
A single golden weapon costs exactly 3,000 Competitive Points.
Typically, a season of Overwatch lasts about 3 months, with a small period in between where ranked play is not possible (“Off-Season”). With the start of the next season, the skill rating and thus the rank must be earned again.
When does Overwatch Season 5 start?
There is not yet a specific date for the start of the next season. However, since Scott Mercer has revealed that the wait will be significantly shorter this time, many fans assume that Season 5 of Overwatch will begin on June 1, 2017.
By the way: In a future patch, Blizzard plans to introduce a timer that clearly indicates how much longer a season will last, so that these constant inquiries can be eliminated.
The hero Mei was actually once planned as a “cold” bounty hunter.
